Best way to Shake Off Winter Blues in Anchorage

That Fur Rondy Time of Year...

February 24 - March 5, 2017 Anchorage is hosting Fur Rondy! For those of you new to Anchorage, Rondy is the nation's premier winter festival. Julie passed out candy with Rotary & Youth Exchange kids in The Grand Parade.

Fur Rondy is just one of the many reasons we love Calling Alaska Home!

History

Rondy is a great time to shake off the winter blues. It has proudly represented the pioneering spirit of Alaskans since the mid 1930's. Since its inception, Rondy has included outdoor fun for all ages.

Best of the Rondy

My favorite Rondy highlights include sled dog and outhouse races, Melodrama, snow sculpture competitions, outdoor hockey tournament, snowshoe softball, running of the reindeer and fireworks!!! There's something for everyone!

There's still time to enjoy this fun event. The snow sculptures will be proudly on display (weather permitting) throughout the entire event. The Rondy Carnival is held at the corner of 3rd Ave & E St. Rides, food, Ferris wheels! Dress warmly and get out and enjoy downtown Anchorage!!

Mark Your Calendars!

The family skate is happening  March 3 at Westchester Lagoon! Free for everyone. Grab your friends and family and enjoy an evening on the ice!

March 4th is Alaska's wackiest race! The running of the reindeer! This fun event raises money for Toys for Tots! Come out and cheer on the racers or sign up for a great cause. It's sure to be a great story to tell your friends after!

Check out the full schedule of events! See you there!
